Aunt Agony: Part One

Share

Our new columnist, who has held the position of Head of Classics at Peterhouse since 1863, begins a new series helping students with their problems in Cambridge.

Dear Aunt Agony,

I’m a Medic and I’m already finding the workload very tough this term. I can’t sleep, I don’t get a chance to socialise and I’m feeling totally overwhelmed. I can’t go on like this. What if I made the wrong decision in coming here?

Thanks, and please help me,
Emily.

Dear Emily,

Whenever you feel stressed, simply look outside. What do you see? Cambridge. No matter the season, it always looks beautiful. And you literally live here. It is a paradise; a Botanical Garden of Eden where all the trees are trees of knowledge, a land flowing with milk and honey. If you’re struggling to meet deadlines take a leisurely walk to Grantchester or visit King’s Chapel; it’s impossible to feel unhappy in a building with such a high roof.

Yours,

Auntie A.
